FKDC Go-Kart
Category: Technology
Overview The FKDC Go-Kart Project is a hands-on, engineering innovation initiative designed to give students real-world experience designing, fabricating, and testing a functional go-kart. Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) Mechanical students aimed to develop a compact, safe, and efficient kart suitable for racing conditions, while optimizing cost and performance, and ASHIT Solution Net LTD. has sponsored the whole Project. ? What they will Build A high-performance go-kart — from scratch! The FKDC team designed, engineered, and built a fully functional racing kart that blends speed, safety, and student innovation. This project brought theory into motion and gave our team hands-on experience in automotive engineering.
?? Core Features ? Chassis • Material: Mild Steel (AISI 1018) • Built with: MIG welding • Tools: CAD in SolidWorks and CREO, Stress Testing in ANSYS ?? Engine & Transmission • Engine: 196cc, 4-stroke petrol engine • Transmission: Centrifugal clutch with chain drive • Top Speed: ~60 km/h ? Steering & Braking • Steering: Ackermann Geometry for tight control • Brakes: Rear mechanical disc brakes for reliable stopping power.
? Electrical & Safety Systems • Kill Switch: Instant power cut-off for emergencies • Battery: 12V lead-acid • Safety Gear: 3-point seatbelt, helmet, fire extinguisher mount • Wiring: Secured with heat shrink tubing Testing & Performance • Static Tests: Brake
strength, chassis flex, and resistance checks • Dynamic Tests: Track runs for acceleration, cornering, and endurance • Outcome: Great stability, smooth power delivery, and strong brakes Team Contributions Each team member was assigned roles, including: • Design and CAD modeling • Sourcing and procurement • Fabrication and welding • Electrical setup and testing • Documentation and presentation Project in Action • Prototyping & blueprinting • Metal cutting, bending & welding • Test runs on real tracks • Final showcase to peers and mentors Why It Matters This go-kart wasn’t just a machine — it was a challenge, a learning journey, and a team-building triumph. From CAD screens to racetracks, we pushed our limits and turned knowledge into motion.
